Part 2 Iguazu from Argentina

Opublikowany: 22.12.2018

Today I revisited the whole thing from the other side, the Argentinean side. I really wanted to stand at the Devil's Throat.

The weather forecast predicted mostly rainy weather for today and indeed, I woke up this morning to a thunderstorm, hmm what to do? First, have breakfast and observe the weather, it got better. So, off to the bus, but the bus didn't come, so I ended up walking the 5km to the border, started walking and of course, the bus overtook me - well, not anymore! Crossed the border to Argentina and changed to the next bus to the Parque Nacional, 700 Pesos and off we go.

Fortunately, there was WiFi here, as I still needed to book my bus tickets for Blumenau - Porto Alegre and Porto Alegre - Punta del Este. Something missing here? Right, time is running out, so unfortunately, I had to skip the beach paradise Florianópolis in order to be able to experience Uruguay a bit. After my experiences with Brazil and the weather forecast (thunderstorms), it is becoming easier for me to let go, I haven't been able to connect with them so far. Wanted to book the tickets here from Brazil yesterday - nope - credit card not accepted, well, that's why I have a 2nd card for such cases, but - nope - still nothing. 3rd option PayPal - haha - you are not allowed to log in from this country. Please log in and contact our customer service, got it. Now my alternatives are to go to the terminal and buy them in cash, for that I need a bank that accepts my card (see yesterday).

Flash of inspiration, try it 'over there', yes and it worked without any problems. 🤦‍♂️ Otherwise, de Jana would have had to book it for me from Germany.

Well, and then the Devil's Throat, you walk about 7/800m over walkways and little islands through the river and eventually stand at the edge, it gurgles and smokes (well, the spray) and you're standing right on or above the edge, then it's about 70-80m down, you can't see that, too much water flowing down. On average, 4000m³/second flow over the edge here, that's about 15-25 times the normal Elbe River in Dresden. The entire waterfalls, where the water falls, are about 2km long. Today, there were also a few animals to see in the wild, including the butterfly with forbidden symbolism, birds, and coatis.

Quick visit to the tri-border area and done.
