Today I went to Helsinki again. First, I went to the airport with a friend to inquire whether our AirBerlin flights would even depart towards home on Thursday and Friday. But there was reassurance (for now) and so we happily continued and had a little dispute with the ATM =P
The aforementioned ATM initially did not accept my friend's PIN, but after it did and she received her money, it refused to return the card... So she promptly asked a friendly security employee if he could help. He just laughed and said that the machine occasionally acts up. And lo and behold, after two strong hits, the card came out.
Then we went to the city, where our paths also separated. She wanted to go shoe shopping and I really wanted to go to the 'International Market'. In plain English: FOOD STREET!!!!!
There were loads of food stands from various countries. And among them, Germany was represented =D And of course, we immediately started chatting in German: 'What am I doing here?' and 'Do I miss the good German food?' etc.
And after my homesickness was awakened by tasting a pretzel, a whole one also ended up in my shopping bag. And because Finnish salami is apparently inedible (according to the salami seller from Kassel), I was also gifted with two very delicious types of salami, Green Pepper and Hazelnut, with the words: 'So that you can eat something proper for once!'
Finally, a delicious and very very big scoop of Italian banana ice cream (even with pieces of banana!!) and the day was simply amazing =)
