Highlight of the day: From the first step, it has turned into several thousand.
Early in the morning, I start my first stage. Today, I'm going from St. Erhard to Huttwil. My app tells me it will be about 25 Km.
No matter how long a hike takes and how far it is - it always starts with the first step. It is unwise to already think of the long road ahead. Just enjoy every single step.
On today's route, I am familiar with almost all of the paths, and I have hiked most of them before - but never as connected as today. From Kaltbach and Kottwil, I go to Ettiswil. Here, I briefly look for a grave of an acquaintance in the cemetery, but I can't find it quickly. Instead, I find a nice restroom that comes in handy.
On the way to Alberswil, I was hoping for a dirt road, but it continues on the bike path. Only there do I have the pleasure of a hiking trail at the foot of the Chastelen ruins. Over Gettnau to Zell, I can partly take a detour on country roads.
By now, it has become wonderfully warm, so I sit in the sun in Zell to eat something. Of course, a Landjäger! What else could it be? An older lady sits down next to me on the bench and tells me about her husband in need of care, who is in a nursing home here in Zell and can be taken care of by her. She herself is older than her husband but still quite fit.
Then, through a variety of paths, I finally descend through a forest to Huttwil, where I pass by the Flyer company. This company is known for its e-bikes of the same name. My hotel, where I have pre-booked, is located in the middle of the town and is easy to find. But before I check into my room, I visit the pastry shop and treat myself to a delicious eggnog dessert with a cup of tea.
