Through the Euro Tunnel to the UK

Today we went through the tunnel. Lt. Ticket should be there 60 minutes before departure. But we needed them too! Gosh, have we been frisked (not just us, everyone)! First we had to go to the Pet Reception with the cats, vaccination card check, read chip, etc. Then to check in. Then in a long queue of cars to border control, first France, then UK.

Explosive swab on the steering wheel and window, the customs officials even got into the vehicle, opened the toilet door and looked in, we had to open the garage (luckily we didn't clear it out 😅), we were asked twice if we turned off the gas (100 m further then there was an employee who was personally convinced of this).

We were asked where we wanted to go, passports were carefully checked with facial comparison - full program!

But in the end they let us in 😀

On the train we first had breakfast in the WoMo, so the time (30 minutes) went by quickly and you didn't have to think so much about the fact that you are now deep under the water. Oh yeah, wasn't there an incident last year? There was! Luckily I didn't google it until later 😂 I hope I've forgotten about it by the time I return 🤣

And whoops we were in the UK! 🇬🇧 From now on, left-hand traffic is trending. But that was actually possible, we drove almost exclusively on the Autobahn. Incidentally, the autobahns are in even worse condition than the German ones, which is hard to believe. It was quite a bumpy slope. And when the travel guide fell on my head from the shelf while driving, I was served first.

But then we were compensated with a beautiful campsite: Green Gates Caravan and Motorhome Park in Stratford-upon-avon. If that sounds somehow familiar: Yes, exactly: Shakespeare! We will probably pay a visit to the house where he was born tomorrow.

The campsite is a bit noisy due to the busy road, but it is well laid out. The site manager, Deb, stopped by personally to greet us and ask if we needed anything, very very nice and welcoming. We found and reserved/paid for the pitch via the Pitchup booking portal. That worked great and €25 is really fair for this place.

Now let's make ourselves comfortable, let the cats out and throw on the grill right away 😋
