Into the South - Krabi

ପ୍ରକାଶିତ |: 03.04.2023

I finally want to go to the sea! I've been thinking that more often in the past few days. Especially because the air quality here in Pai reminds me of a 24/7 campfire.

First, I took the minivan back to Chiang Mai. The ride was terrible. The driver seemed to be in a hurry. I, on the other hand, had to concentrate on not throwing up on my seat neighbor's lap. (Luckily, I managed to avoid that)

In Chiang Mai, I had plenty of time until my flight to Krabi. So I went to my favorite restaurant again (Mountain View at the North Gate, absolute heart recommendation!) and refreshed and rested there.

You would think that by now I have a plan for flying. No liquids in hand luggage and such. But I actually forgot to pack my sunscreens and mosquito sprays back into my checked luggage. The staff was very nice and allowed me to later check in the items in a small box.

After 12 hours on the road, I finally reached my destination! In Ao Nang on the west coast of Thailand.

On one of the following days, I visited the famous Tiger Temple. After 1260 extremely steep steps, you could have thought that I had participated in a wet t-shirt contest. Rarely has my heartbeat shot up so much and rarely have I sweat so much. But the view made up for all the hardships.

From here, I also took a boat trip to some nearby islands. Including Koh Phi Phi and Ko Kai - also called Chicken Island because its shape resembles a chicken! Incredibly beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise water, snorkeling...what more could you want? Maybe a picnic on the beach and a nice sunburn? :)

I booked the tours with a Thai lady named Tip. What a lovely, friendly, and nice person! Not only did she make me laugh with her charming manner, but she also finally convinced me to buy from her. (Which brings us back to the topic of sales psychology - likability is also one of Robert Cialdini's principles of persuasion)

I read a lot by the pool and explored the area by bike. However, I really can't get used to driving on the left. So I guess cycling is all I can do.

My evening highlight: The Ao Nang Landmark Night Market. Good food as far as the eye can see! Pad Thai, curry, fresh fruit, refreshing smoothies...they also serve beer here. But that was rather a disappointment for me as a Bavarian. I'd rather have a fresh pineapple juice! :)
