West-Bali National Park - Relaxing among Monkeys (Bali Part 1)

ପ୍ରକାଶିତ |: 16.09.2018

Our first hotel in Bali is located directly in the West-Bali National Park and is not accessible by roads. We used the hotel's shuttle boat service to get here.

After the obligatory welcome drink, we checked into our cabin, which has a terrace with a view of the sea and often the sight of monkeys and muntjaks on the premises.

The hotel is not far from Menjangan Island, which is known as a snorkeling paradise for its coral reefs and wide range of fish species.

So on the first day, we took a boat trip to the island and Malte discovered the underwater world.

On the hotel grounds, many muntjaks search for food and water, as there is not much during the dry season. There is also a water hole. Previously, it was located far outside the hotel, but poachers used the gathering of animals as an opportunity to shoot them. So the water hole was moved inside the hotel grounds, where the animals are better protected...

In addition, two species of monkeys roam the premises: gray ones and black ones. While the black monkeys sit peacefully in the trees and feed exclusively on leaves, their gray counterparts are omnivores and also like to help themselves to the food of the hotel guests.

In the morning, we were sitting at our breakfast table when suddenly a monkey jumped on it, plundered our bread basket, and immediately disappeared...

Even the next day during afternoon coffee, we were attacked by a monkey who had his eye on the sugar packets. He jumped on my chair back and the table, grabbed some packets, and disappeared again to enjoy his loot.

To take advantage of the slightly cooler morning air, we participated in the trekking tour at 7 o'clock in the morning and walked along the coast into the national park.

We saw some kingfishers, a mouse deer, and macaques, but also learned about the flora and fauna of the area.
