G'day mate!

I had to look forward to Australia for about a year. A year sounds so darn long. But in the end, it went by darn quickly. Bam, the day came when I finally closed my suitcase and headed to the airport with my family.

It was also harder there than I thought. It hurt to leave my family for 5 months... Not knowing if I'll ever see them again (grandma and grandpa).

There were many tears and damn, that queasy feeling in the stomach doesn't leave you so quickly either. I miss my family every minute. Every second I wish they were here and I could spend time with them... I'm crying as I write this.

Maybe that will change over time, but especially the first few weeks are very tough.

Well, in the end, I had to leave them all behind... At least for 5 months. In the plane, I just thought, 'What are you actually doing here?'

5 months doesn't sound long as long as your trip is still far away. But as soon as you sit in the plane, it feels like your whole life is already over afterwards.

Well, my first flight went from Hanover to Frankfurt. I had to constantly hold back my tears, but after a while it went away due to excitement.

Arriving in Frankfurt, I met some of my friends from Düsseldorf again and I felt better immediately. From there we flew to Singapore and stayed there for 4 days.

But even there, it didn't feel like I would be away for 5 months soon. It felt like a class trip. But it was a nice feeling because you had people around you who were going through the exact same thing.

I can only recommend the city of Singapore, it's such a mega cool city.

Ciao
