This morning, in bed, we found it really sad that you can't take hotel rooms with you. Just let the air out, pack it up, and inflate it again where you want to stay. Like a camper without wheels. The room was great. But we're not in a "make a wish" scenario. So we packed our suitcases into the car and headed to the frisbee court. Trying out the throwing techniques I watched on YouTube yesterday. I don't think I'm usually clumsy, but it looks so easy for everyone else, I just can't do it somehow. But Rome wasn't built in a day and masters don't fall from the sky. There should also be a court at our next destination.
Our next destination is the Otago Peninsula near Dunedin. 4 hours drive through pastures, meadows, fields, and
some straight roads.
3 larger cities cross our path, otherwise only the "touched" nature with hedges trimmed straight (from the side as well).
No small front yard hedges, big tree hedges, like yesterday at Wilmot Pass. I wonder if there is a profession of tree hedge trimmer here? The one who cuts the hedge trees radically at 8 meters height with a cherry picker? We don't know.We reach Dunedin in glorious sunshine.
The best time for a round of frisbee golf. After a bit of searching, we finally find it. Oops, a note
greets us with the information that the disc park is closed from yesterday for the next 5 days and the baskets have been removed. Darn 😡. Frustration sets in. We were really looking forward to it. They must have known that the weather would be bad in the next few days.
Oh well, let's head to our new place.
A road directly by the water brings us to the Fantail Lodge.
Our new hosts are supposed to be two very warm people, according to our research on the internet. However, I can't confirm that after the first meeting. But what isn't, can still become. According to our booking confirmation, our lodge has an outdoor hot tub on the terrace. Cool - we're looking forward to that. We're confused when Vic takes us to another lodge. We didn't book that one, did we?🤔
Our mood is at an all-time low. Unfortunately, Vic made a mistake, he apologizes. It happens, but now we don't have a hot tub either. But there's a solution for everything. The honeymoon couple from Germany will check out tomorrow, they'll clean the pool and we can use it. Awesome.
Our new accommodation is great. A holiday house nestled in a beautiful garden.
You can also stay here in bad weather.
Now we also get to know Tessa, Vic's wife, and after all the misunderstandings have been cleared up, they turn out to be just like described on the internet. Warm and helpful.
Rain is expected for the next few days. That's why we're making the most of this beautiful day and driving up to a castle. We're not particularly interested in the castle, but from the Highcliff Road, you have a great view of the bay.
