Finally the 7 weeks are over and I could hold Matthias in my arms. Overjoyed and really difficult to describe what that feeling was like. We still had time until our next flight so we could talk for hours.
Arriving in Zanzibar and at the hotel, we were overwhelmed by the tranquility and beauty of the sea. We spent most of our 5 days here doing nothing. We were in the sea a lot - although there is also ebb and flow here and plenty of sea urchins - or in the pool (which fortunately always has water and no sea urchins). We read, played cards, talked, walked on the beach, or slept and ate.
Our room was positioned so that we could look directly at the sea. Everything was open, so you fell asleep in the evening with the sound of the sea and were woken up by it in the morning. In combination with the sunrise, it was incredibly beautiful!
But the highlight was snorkeling. I had never done anything like this before and water and fish are not really my thing, but I would do anything for my husband. I have to admit that I enjoyed it and it was an incredible experience. The bright blue water, the fish, and then the dolphins! Just amazing.
It was an incredibly beautiful time here that we could enjoy together!
Tomorrow we will be in StoneTown for another two days.
