Luang Prabang, a great city

Lofalitsidwa: 17.02.2019

We had read and heard a lot of positive things about Luang Prabang, so we were curious about what makes the city so special that everyone raves about it. And now we're raving too: It is located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, has about 55,000 inhabitants and probably just as many tourists. The old town has many old and well-preserved wooden villas with gardens, all very tidy, countless beautiful temples, inviting pubs and cafes, something for every audience.

There are small narrow streets and long waterfronts along the two rivers, textiles and handicrafts in markets and shops. You can spend your time well here.

To our delight, we found a bakery with delicious rolls and cakes.

The former royal palace shows how the last Laotian king lived with his family. After being disappointed by the presentation and preparation in the museums we have seen in Cambodia and Laos so far, this is a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside the house, only of the king outside.
