Singapore - Abu Dhabi, March 23 - April 1, 2023

Lofalitsidwa: 29.03.2023

By popular request, a small report from our sea days from Singapore to Abu Dhabi.

The weather was hot (>30°C) and very humid at the beginning. Accordingly, it rained briefly and occasionally several times. It got slightly cooler (28-29°C) and less humid in the last two days.

The journey first takes you through the Strait of Malacca between Sumatra and Malaysia. This is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. You always see other ships here, and sometimes they are very close. But even in the Bay of Bengal, you can still see many ships, unlike the transatlantic or Pacific voyage, where you only occasionally see a ship. The picture illustrates the situation.

Originally, a stop in Sri Lanka was planned. Since Sri Lanka is known to be bankrupt and lacks everything, this stop was canceled before the trip began. Today, March 29, 2023, we passed about 200km past Mumbai.

One thing you always see are tankers pumping water in and out of their tanks, and floating markets (fishing boats or cargo ships).

We didn't see as many animals as in the Pacific. Very few birds, occasional flying fish, and two sightings of dolphins.

The daily routine on sea days is always roughly the same. Maria goes to stretching before breakfast. We have breakfast in our courtyard, the outside area of our restaurant, and then usually go to the sun deck, which is reserved for grill passengers. There are comfortable covered loungers. There, we read newspapers, books, talk to other passengers, and watch the sea. If you want something to drink or eat, a steward brings it to you, and they regularly bring water, tea, fruits, sandwiches, ice cream, etc. Between 10:00 and 13:00, there are lectures. If they are interesting, we go there.

After lunch, I usually go to the gym and burn 800-900 calories on the bike, rowing machine, and treadmill. Then I go to the sauna. An important place where you can find out everything.

There is also an afternoon program, but we rarely use it.

Since we don't find the ship-organized excursions so exciting, we also organize our own land excursions in the afternoon via the internet. This is always a bit time-consuming, especially if you still want to see things that are not included in the standard offer.

In the evening, there is, of course, a big dinner. There is a daily changing menu, a standard menu, and menus that can be pre-ordered. If you don't like that, you can also order something else, and the kitchen will see if they can make it.

Then comes the evening program with various music offerings, shows, quizzes, etc. And now I have to go ;-)
