In the early morning, we explored our campground a little bit and had to realize that with a 10m long and 3m wide camper, we count as the mini campers here. That's America for you. Our spot is very nice, everything your heart desires is available, in front of each site there is a table with 2 benches. We have a pool, a children's entertainment area... The people here are very friendly everywhere, some rent a golf cart ($40) to explore the place. Then a quick call home.. Happy Birthday Melanie!!! :-)
We had planned to take the shuttle into the city in the afternoon. It should cost $10, so it is much cheaper than if we would take a taxi (we would need 2 taxis for the six of us). The shuttle had to be ordered by phone about 1 hour in advance and then it took us to the city on time at 1:00 pm. Straight to Broadway in Nashville. And what awaited us there surprised all of us. Pub after pub where high-quality live music was being celebrated even at noon.
Countless groups of party animals, many of them recognizable as bachelor/bachelorette parties... a lot of them. Totally crazy. It felt a bit like Malle for the Ami's... with more sophisticated music. Then we had great difficulties deciding which place we wanted to go to. We decided on 'Benchmark Nashville'. Two men played first-class country music there... great. We ordered some chicken wings with fried pickle chips, cheese balls, etc.
Then we moved on a little bit, music everywhere and cheerful, mostly young and mostly female audience. The music in every pub was really good. But if you want to go somewhere, it's also welcome if you order something... Out of consideration for our vacation budget, we just took a quick look everywhere. In one bar, there was even a young girl estimated to be between 10-12 years old playing guitar and singing hits by Taylor Swift & co. - impressive.
We also found the Starbucks café and Mutti and Gisela could each get a souvenir cup. And when we drove home with the shuttle, we saw another unique sight. A huge crowd of people came to a high school game at the Nissan Arena (home stadium of the Tennessee Titans) and celebrated themselves and their national sport, American football, in the parking lot. Unbelievable.
Now we are back at our motorhome, planning tomorrow's day. We're going to Chattanooga with a stopover in Lynchburg... More about that tomorrow!! Until then, greetings from Nashville, Tennessee!!
