So my dears, and that's almost it with our great trip through the USA. Today was the last stage from South Bend to the outskirts of Chicago. We made an unplanned but gladly accepted little detour to Michigan, because after all, we also had to collect a Starbucks cup there. In Nile we found one and Mom is happy.
We practically drove from Lake Erie to Lake Michigan and first made a lunch stop at 'Buffalo Wild Wings'.. very, very delicious and all in a sports bar atmosphere, just to my taste. A little further on, we stopped at the Indiana Dunes State Park. We didn't want to miss the view over the great lake to the skyline of Chicago. It's a bit hidden and is certainly a secret tip, because despite private houses with a beach view, there are public accesses to the beach in between. A wonderful beach that may not be so wide, but otherwise it's no different from the Warnemünde beach, and we were almost alone.
Then we went a little further, now we are at a campground in the outskirts of Chicago in Joliet, so we don't have much to go to return the motorhome tomorrow. Before that, we will treat ourselves to an American breakfast. I'm looking forward to hash browns one last time. Then the plane takes off and we will be back home by Thursday noon. There will be one more update from home, maybe there are a few outtakes that didn't make it into the blog so far... I think of 'the husky' or 'is it a food sell?'.. be surprised.
See you soon back home. We already know today that the vacation was unforgettable beautiful. I thank everyone who has been reading here, there was only one comment in total, but I think the effort was not in vain :-)
