10. Shëngjin (Albania)

Lofalitsidwa: 18.07.2021

12.07.21-17.07.21

Entering Albania was so easy that it was strange - usually, you would often have to show the vehicle registration or the green insurance card, but here even the passports were not relevant..

We spend the first few days in Shëngjin... there is probably no bigger difference compared to Utjeha!

City center

It's loud, crowded, bustling... and even though we generally prefer it calm and relaxed, it's incredibly interesting! Many families (with many children) from Kosovo are on vacation here, the beach is overcrowded (really overcrowded) and loud music blasts from the bars and restaurants.

But if you make the effort to walk along the coast for two hours in over 30°C, you can find little oases where you can find peace and tranquility!

At the end of the village and just before you reach the beaches again, you suddenly find yourself in a former military area of the Navy. Still guarded and somewhat bizarre..

Away from the tourist crowds and sun loungers, you can get a small impression of the original Albania!

Although it was a very hectic but especially interesting start to the new country - we are very curious to see what else we will experience and discover here! In any case, it can already be said that the best food (once again) is here!

Ps: Even in the last weeks in Croatia and Montenegro, Corona was far away - in Albania, the pandemic was declared completely over and NO ONE wears a mask!

Finally, we don't want to withhold the little insects that we have already dealt with:
