If New Zealand had a color, it would be green.
We treated ourselves to a week of the greenest green: seven days of trekking on the Travers Sabine!
What was so great about it?
Finally back into the wild.
Along paths lined with lush moss.
Climbing mountains, celebrating freedom and achievement above the treeline.
Meeting amazing people in huts (dormitory rooms) who love the simple, sometimes tough life as much as we do.
Bathing in icy waterfalls and drinking delicious spring water.
Aligning our daily routines with the sun once again.
Taking a break from everything. No reception, it was wonderful!
What could go wrong?
We actually didn't bring enough food!! Still full from the farm, we thought we wouldn't need so much...a fatal mistake.
So here we were, at the end of the world, far, far away from civilization and shops, and fellow travelers gave us food.
When you're hungry and everyone has rationed their food for days, GOLD EQUALS. Just good people in our huts!!
Protein bars, brownie pudding (dehydrated, amazing!!), salami sticks, chocolate...
We returned to civilization physically exhausted yet so peaceful!
If we had known what awaited us, we would have stayed in the woods;)
