A round thing

Lofalitsidwa: 27.08.2023

Two nights in Narvik are behind me and now I'm moving on. The weather promises a sunny day with around 18 degrees Celsius. I was able to stow all my belongings back on Hildegard, breakfast is behind me. So let it begin.

We roll a little over the E6, drive over the Hålogaland Bridge, which we admired from the train yesterday, and then turn onto the "Kong Olav Vs vei", as the European route E10 is called here in Norway. The Norwegian kings have recognized the importance of a good road network since the 13th century and have prioritized road construction ever since. There is even said to be a stone in Lofoten that bears the signatures of the last 4 rulers. Maybe I see this stone. Because Hildegard and I have been traveling to the Lofoten since noon today.

This is truly a very beautiful archipelago. What the Westfjords are to Iceland, it seems to me that the Lofoten are to Norway. Word gets around and of course it attracts crowds of visitors. And so it is actually almost a bit busier on the streets here than on the Norwegian mainland. It's a good thing that today is Sunday and the trucks still have a rest period. I took advantage of the beautiful weather and, always with the sun on my face, drove to Reine to get a picture of the main islands of Lofoten. There were a lot of tourists in Reine, the place is almost too small for that. It offers winding streets, pretty houses and is framed by high mountains. One of these mountains, the Reinebringen, can be climbed over 1566 steps. I gave up on that today. It was already 6 p.m. when I stood in front of it. But I took a photo of the way :o)

Today, here in Lofoten, we were able to celebrate another anniversary: Hildegard now has 20,000 km on the clock! And all this with me in the saddle.

A big thank you goes to the motorcycle today.
