Week 11 Melnik - Larissa

On our last day in Bulgaria, we go on a fantastic hike through the beautiful sandstone cliffs near Melnik. The goal is the old monastery Roshenski with a courtyard full of grapes.

In Kulata, we cross the border into Greece. For the first 15 kilometers, we speed along the well-built highway and don't even have to pay toll!

We stay in the north at Lake Kerkinis. It is a natural paradise with many birds, including pelicans, and it also has a special feature: buffaloes. They even offer ice cream made from buffalo milk.

Two days later, we are at the Aegean Sea south of Thessaloniki. We ride two short stages, camp right by the sea, and can spend the afternoons at the beach. It is very hot, but with the breeze and enough water, we cope very well.

Since we want to go to Delphi, we have to go back inland. We continue south through the Tempi Valley with high cliffs until we reach Larissa.
