Today 17°C, cloudy, National Day in Ukraine (Independence Day from the Soviet Union) and 140 km to Schytomyr on the M06 / E40 heading east. I'm starting my journey back home today. About 1,600 km to go.

During breakfast, we watch the broadcast of the military parade and speech by Mr. Poroschenko on Maidan Square. It's annoying, if I had known earlier, I would have gone there and watched the parade. But I have to leave today, otherwise the daily stages will be too long and the return journey too stressful.

The road is very well built. For motorcycles, a maximum speed of 80 km/h is allowed on highways in Ukraine. I'm fully taking advantage of that!

After 100 km, I turn onto a country road and hope for some variation in the last 40 km. Unfortunately, the road ends after a few kilometers in a sandy water desert. I turn back.

By 15:00, I have reached Schytomyr. After a short break and a walk through the neighborhood, I decide to eat in my hotel room and buy everything necessary at the supermarket.
