One morning we decided to make a day trip to Rye and Portsea which is a popular holiday spot, located near the end of the Mornington Peninsula between the calm waters of Port Phillip and the wild surf of Bass Strait. The weather was sunny and warm and therefore we also packed our bathing suits in case we had a swim.
The drive was nice and the nearer we got there the more beautiful the view was. When you get out of the city or even when you don't live in the city every time you get to see the ocean or any kind of saltwater you feel happy. At least I can speak only for myself but I love the water especially when it is so beautiful and clear. First we stopped at Rye and walked along the beach and afterwards we continued our drive to Portsea. I can't say there is much to see there but it is basically the end of the 'Island'.
We decided we would go back to Rye and have a little bath in the water and drive to the other side of Rye to watch the sunset. On the other side you have the real ocean and rough sea. We bought some fish and chips and head to the ocean to enjoy the sunset. As predicted the sea was rough and the waves high, a real paradise for surfers. Some of them tried it again and again and some just enjoyed the water which was cold. As soon as we installed ourselves on the beach to enjoy our diner we got company of a lot of seagulls crying for food.
The sunset was beautiful especially with the ocean in the background and the sound of the waves. Nothing better than ending the day like that.
