Today we get up very early again because we want to be at Dune 45 for the sunrise. It starts at 6:15 am.
Once we arrive at the dune, the tough climb begins. 170 meters elevation gain in soft sand.
Very exhausting with only 8 degrees and 5% humidity!!!
But the view is unforgettable.
It is much easier to go downhill, and it must be already 28 degrees. Tim and Leni run straight down.
We continue to Dead Vlei, where there are over 500 years old acacia trees. The drive leads through deep sand. We made it with our Toyota. Four others, however, got stuck.
We found an Asian tour group very interesting. They walk through the desert with winter coats, rain pants, gloves, rubber boots, umbrellas, and face masks, despite the 31 degrees heat!
We spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool.
