Haut-Koenigsbourg

Lofalitsidwa: 29.07.2019

Today we started a bit more relaxed...after yesterday's effort.

First, of course, I have to tell you about the surprise last night: we drove to Strasbourg and listened to an organ concert in the St. Thomas Church. This is played once a year on the anniversary of J. S. Bach's death. It was initiated by Albert Schweitzer and took place for the 112th time. The Silbermann organ (well-known organ builder) had a very harmonious and warm sound.

The concert was very well attended, admission was free (voluntary). That was a very nice surprise! Nothing else, except music, would have probably gotten us off the couch 😀.

Today at noon we went towards the mountains on a Garmin Adventure Tour...and suddenly ended up on a similar route as yesterday, but with the best view today!

There are great motorcycle routes everywhere here, the roads are well-built and there is very little traffic in the mountains.

Back in the plain, which you can see in the background of the picture, we went through Villé to the south to Haut-Koenigsbourg. The destination was recommended to us by the landlords. Nevertheless, we were surprised by the rush, similar to 'Neuschwanstein Castle'.

But the winding castle had a lot to offer. For attackers, it would not be easy to survive the narrow path past the arrow slits!

The castle has survived many sieges thanks to its own wells before it could be captured.

The living quarters of the various castle lords were quite cozy, with very beautiful tiled stoves everywhere.

And you couldn't sneak up here secretly, as the panorama shows.

Daring ensemble at the edge:

The journey back took us via Obernai to Molsheim, where we wanted to go to the supermarket for "just a short time". This turned into a treasure hunt-like round trip around the train station because our navigation system couldn't process it quickly enough. Only a large detour allowed us to arrive at Super U. Others were already busy, for example, doing laundry (these washing machines are located in the supermarket parking lot...and they were all running!)

When we got home, we baked delicious chicken with onions, tomatoes, lemon, and cream sauce in the oven. Phew, and now we can roll ourselves. But first, I have to demand a rematch for the just lost dice game.

So greetings from us and keep your fingers crossed for me to win!
