11.08. over the border

Lofalitsidwa: 13.08.2017

Today is the hottest day so far, with 39 degrees. With our aunt over the border into the USA. To El Paso, for shopping. They also say: El Paso is the most beautiful in Juarez. (It's a completely different city ha ha)

To avoid standing in line forever, our uncle (who has a special permit) drives through customs and we walk across the bridge. My aunt also has to walk because she did something minor 'wrong' when she was 20, which the Americans still hold against her and therefore don't give her a permanent permit. If you're used to non-existent European borders, this is really strange here.

After we managed that, we go to an outlet center. Even though we're in the USA, no one speaks English here. Eeeevvveeerrryyyooonnneee speaks Spanish.

Afterwards, we drive up a highway called Trans Mountain. A beautiful view, but unfortunately it's completely cloudy and it's raining for the first time.

On the way home, dad remembers at the border that Aiken and I don't have permission to be in Mexico yet. The last few days we've been more or less here illegally haha. So we still have to fill out the paperwork.

I brought a bottle of wine for my grandma and myself& good night.
