To prepare for the upcoming jobs, we spent five days on a training farm. Our group was too large to stay on the same farm, so we were divided and 6 of us, including me, were taken to another farm.
There, we gradually practiced everything you need to know and be able to do for a job on a farm. Soooooo many new words... :D
I was most looking forward to riding because I thought that was the only skill I had.
But when we sat on the horses, it turned out to be wrong....
The riding here is completely different from at home. The horses respond to completely different aids and are ridden completely differently.
So I got off a little frustrated.
One day, we rode with the horses to a cattle farm, I think that was my highlight
Surprisingly, I really enjoyed riding motorcycles and quads. Even driving the tractor was not too bad :D
We had a lot of fun, especially Emma, Amanda, and me. I met the two of them there and I'm so glad we spent the week together. It couldn't have been better.
After the first day, the first job offers started coming in.
I received a total of 5 offers, I really didn't expect such a large selection. In the end, I decided on a job with Emma on a large cattle farm near Darwin. I'm really excited and looking forward to meeting the people.
Just before we were all about to start our journey to Brisbane, where we spent one last night together, it turned out that my flight was canceled. I really had bad luck with things like that all week. My bank account didn't work at first, I couldn't log into my email account, and so on...
Since I had to change my flight plans, I only had one day in Brisbane instead of two before heading to Darwin.
But Emma and I enjoyed the one day in Brisbane to the fullest. We had great weather and spent half the day at the artificially created beach in the middle of the city, sunbathing.
Later, we had a super delicious ice cream! A scoop of ice cream between two cookies...bloody delicious!
I'm really looking forward to the next few months with Emma. She laughs just as much as I do...:D
