Christmas and New Year in 2019 were very special for me. I got to spend both festivities in Madeira with my amazing team from the hospital. It was a strange feeling not being at home, especially when I received so many pictures, but it was definitely unforgettable here. We had a great dinner in our crew mess and then went up to Theatrium. All crew members gathered on stage to sing Silent Night together. It was goosebumps-inducing because it was sung in all the languages we have on board. Everyone was so far away from home, yet somehow we were all one big family. Everyone misses their loved ones on this day. After that, there was a Christmas party for everyone and it was really special. On the 25th of December, there was also a Christmas gift for everyone. New Year's Eve was also incredibly beautiful. We sailed out to the sea and admired the magnificent fireworks over Madeira. It was a moment that you won't forget in your life. It's actually the biggest fireworks display in Europe and holds the world record. So many indescribable moments with so many amazing people here. That's why it wasn't so bad to be away from home. There are still so many Christmases and New Years where I can be at home and tell about these special moments!
