That was it - the famous Great Ocean Road. Unfortunately, we didn't have such good weather in the last few days. In summary, you could say that we had all 4 seasons represented somehow. We experienced the coastal road as very stormy and very cold. Like in Iceland, we wore everything we had in terms of long clothes. But as soon as the sun managed to break through the thick clouds, it got really hot. But enough about the weather now!
Torquay - in the small surfer town, it's nice to stay. Our guide compared the waves there to the paradise-sized ones in Hawaii. Despite strong winds, we didn't find the waves to be that big. Nevertheless, we could observe many surfers in their everyday lives - paddling out, waiting for THE wave, paddling into THE wave, standing on the surfboard, and if everything fits perfectly - even riding THE wave - falling off the surfboard and being happy. We simply couldn't get enough of this scenario and stayed for one more day.
In the following days, we continued along the Great Ocean Road with the other tourists. In Kennett River, after just a short game of 'Hans guck in die Luft,' we discovered our first 2 koalas in the wild. It was such a beautiful moment for us.
Full of energy and satisfied from the many new impressions, we returned to our accommodation. But the day still had a surprise in store for us.
Kangaroos grazed not far from our campsite. We grabbed the binoculars and the camera and watched them while they were eating.
The next morning, we continued to the Twelve Apostles. Over the decades, wind and sea have already caused Five Apostles to collapse. Therefore, the name Seven Apostles would be more appropriate today.
Very impressive, these huge rocks! With what force they are shaped by wind, rain, and the sea.
We will now spend the next few days on the freeway to Sydney. About 1100 km of road awaits us. Because Tobias (Manus' brother) and Ines (Manus' cousin) are coming from Berlin. The four of us will then travel along the east coast.
