After a restful night, we both felt better this morning. Thanks to the charcoal tablets from our travel pharmacy!
The day started early again - the alarm went off at 7 am. We're finding it difficult to get up early at the moment because we somehow can't manage to go to bed early in the evening. 🫣
After breakfast (egg, bread, and coffee), we set off. Today we had 230 km ahead of us. Dung already told us in the morning that we wouldn't see much today, but we would see beautiful nature. He kept his promise, but now let's start from the beginning... 😉
We made our first stop after a few minutes. We visited the former Khe Sanh Airbase. During the Vietnam War, it was an air force base for the Americans and now serves as a museum and memorial site.
Our next stop was on the side of the road. Dung took us to a field and showed us how turmeric grows. Then we continued through the mountains. On our way, we mostly drove on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, as we already reported on Day 1. On our way to the destination, we drove 60 km through a national park. Especially here, we could admire the beauty of nature. We were particularly impressed by the diversity of nature here. There was a constant change between high plateaus with farmland, steep mountains, and jungle.
We are staying here for two nights and tomorrow we will take a day trip from here before returning to Hue on Tuesday.
