Pui, now I'm lying exhausted on my sofa. After yesterday's rainy day, I was able to plan the first days of my tour along the St. Lawrence River towards Quebec City and Tadoussac, so today I took a surf course on one of the two standing waves on the St. Lawrence. Maybe it's because I've been bouldering too much in the past few days, but I found it even more exhausting than I thought. First, paddle hard to stand in front of the wave, then try to jump on the shortboard for a short time, but then the current sweeps you away and you have to struggle to get back to the shore. It rarely worked for me, so I had to walk back to the entry point the distance that I drifted away. No wonder surfers are all so fit. But it's still fun, and unlike the Munich Eisbach surfers, the Montreal surfers are totally relaxed and gladly let us beginners go first. Tomorrow I'll go back to my bouldering spot, Nomads Boulder, 15 minutes away from my apartment. Great outdoor bouldering gym, nice people, hammocks and fat boys, drinks and good music. And it's also really cheap, a real insider tip. Besides, Lenny Kravitz is in town, that's the evening program. On Saturday, I'll go climbing south of Montreal. And I slowly want to start improving my rudimentary Spanish skills, because you already notice here that while you can also have nice conversations in English, the people of Montreal mainly speak French among themselves, so it's a shame that you don't understand anything in a group situation, like when surfing.
