Today was another ridiculously hot day. Mattis and I unfortunately got sunburned because we totally underestimated the sun. This morning we headed to Glenfinnan. First, we hiked through the fields a bit to get a good view of the viaduct. At 10:55 am, the Jacobite Steam Train came and passed by slowly so that all the tourists could take their photos. Afterwards, we had a drink at the Glenfinnan Tourist Center to cool down from the blazing heat, and quickly visited the Glenfinnan Monument. This beach is where Bonnie Prince Charlie arrived hundreds of years ago to incite the Jacobites to rebel against the English. Then we drove back in the opposite direction to Corpach. First, we visited Treasures of the World, an award-winning exhibition about minerals, gemstones, and fossils found around the world. After that, we went to Neptune's Staircase. It is Britain's largest lock system. It takes a ship 90 minutes to pass through the entire system. Since it was simply too hot to see more or go hiking, we decided to head back to the caravan park and spend the afternoon hours on the beach playground.
