It's been a while

Lofalitsidwa: 05.03.2024

Hello first of all, it's been a long time since my last blog post, but now there's finally one again.

So during the week I usually didn't do much, so most of the events I describe happened on Saturdays and Sundays. From a school perspective, I won't discuss anything because that would be pretty boring (at least for me) but all in all I'm getting by.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure how long it's been since the last post and what of the things I did happened before and after, but I'll try to remember both the pictures as well as the order of my story may not necessarily be 100 percent chronologically correct.

In general, I've done more alone than usual in the last few weeks, without Yuma and his friends, because he found more friends to do things with and so I had to do things alone.

One of those things is my trip to Thetis Lake. Thetis Lake is a lake that is right around the corner from here. You have to walk there in around 10 minutes and the whole trip around it takes around 40-60 minutes. The weather that day wasn't the best, but the lake itself was great. The view of the lake was really great and I sat down in one place and made a small drawing of the view (picture is attached). All in all, the trip took me a lot of time because it was already afternoon I was out somewhere in the morning (I'm not sure where)

Now that I've already mentioned drawing, I have to say that in the last few weeks I've drawn a few small character portraits (All of which are attached). Most of these characters are characters from anime that Yuma watches, which I then request I drew it because I usually have no idea what to draw.

I've also returned to the arcade several times since the last blog post (I just love the place) and apparently the skill has paid off as I'm now immortalized on the leaderboards with several top 5 arcade-wide high scores and I I'm sure there will be more to come in the next two months ;)

While we're on the subject of games, I went to another second game store near here and I found this one to be a lot better than the first one, the atmosphere, selection and employees were much better and friendlier and seemed to be too Kind of person who is really interested in the whole topic, so I'm sure I might have had some long discussions with them about the whole thing but oh well. In any case, I explained a little about the history of the whole thing to a father who apparently wanted to show his son his old games from back then, because I don't want him to pass on false facts. Not? ;-) Oh yes...I also made a smaller purchase at the great prices...

Sooo what else happened…………..I’ve definitely been downtown a lot lately, even if I haven’t always necessarily done anything. Even at night. I was at the harbor and yesterday I went alone to the Great Museum in Victoria, which was actually surprisingly interesting, especially considering that I might never have gone to the museum if my new friend hadn't had to cancel me at short notice I had to find something to do alone in Victoria.

I also went to the shopping center (Uptown Shopping Center) very often. I either ate lunch there on weekends or sat in Starbucks in the afternoon and worked on various things on my iPad.

The last big trip I took was last Saturday when I went to Butchard Gardens with a friend (and two of his friends who work there) (one of them already has a driver's license). The garden itself was actually pretty cool and I I got along really well with all three guys. We then spent the whole day together. First we went to a mall for burgers and then we played billiards downtown (I did surprisingly well). All in all, Saturday was great.

Oh yes, at some point during the week I also went bowling, but not too much happened.

But there is one interesting thing that came about through the school. I took business marketing as a school subject and we had a group task and an idea for a start-up and I had an idea for a website, which my group rejected. However, I still thought the idea was great. So great that I couldn't get it out of my head. And then I thought to myself: “Jannik… you are a programmer and have web development knowledge and you also know people and have friends who also program websites. Why don't you try to do the whole thing." So the next day, during a quiet phase of class (I was finished with the assignments so it might be ok), I asked my friends at home online if they would be interested in starting a "business" with me and to create this website with me. And they're up for it, although they don't quite see my idea for the website, but they're still interested in the experience. The roles have all already been clarified. One does backend and security programming, the other does frontend (i.e. what you see) programming. A third person is half involved and helps us with data protection and I do everything that doesn't involve programming. I organize and manage the entire project so that everything runs smoothly. I'll also take care of marketing and hosting the website later, etc. Further details, for example what the whole thing is, remains secret for now, I want to keep the excitement going, but I'll tell you everything soon enough, don't worry.

The last thing I have to tell you has to do with my upcoming birthday. I already have plans of what I want to do on my birthday. But I also need something else that I can tell you in the next post so I'll leave that for now. I already have some of my birthday wishes. I suddenly just really wanted to learn the guitar, so I'll probably want a guitar as soon as I'm back in Germany. And maybe, depending on how expensive a used guitar is, I would also like a new, super good microphone for my YouTube recordings. But I don't know which one yet, because I have to really find out which microphones are really suitable for this so that I have the best audio quality.

When it came to the topic of guitar, my friend Henri (at home in Germany) directly suggested that we should start a band, but that's going way too far for now, it'll all take a while.

So that's it from me again. This post ended up being far too long but well, I experienced a lot.

I'll see you in the next post (which might take a while) and I'll tell you about my birthday and maybe my day trip to Vancouver.

Until next time and Ciao

Huhu Jannik!
