Our alarm clock rang at 6 o'clock in the morning. After a coffee in bed, we had breakfast and then got ready to leave. It took a bit longer than planned. And then the check-out at the hotel took a bit longer too. Some discrepancies in the hotel bar bill. Our time buffer was disappearing. We arrived in Ekamai at the bus station a bit rushed, but still on time. Because in Thailand, you should be on time. The bus driver was already nagging at 8:55 am that he wanted to leave. But never get on a bus without doing your business! You never know when the bus will make a pit stop.
The journey was relaxed and after three hours there was a 10 minute break. Unfortunately, we didn't pack any provisions and were already a little hangry (hungry + angry). Luckily, there was ice cream and cookies at the gas station. And even though my husband always insists that he can never sleep on buses and planes, his head quickly ended up on my shoulder. A nice feeling.
The bus stops in Laem Ngob right at the ferry pier. The ticket costs around 2,50€ for the 30 minute crossing. Once you arrive on Koh Chang, you have to take a pick-up taxi to your accommodation. The prices are fixed and based on the distance. It's best to share the taxi with other people, even if they are going to a different accommodation, then it will be cheaper.
Koh Chang has something for everyone. Whether it's partying in White Sand Beach or the seclusion and tranquility of Tropical Beach in the south of the island.
We decided on peace and relaxation and checked in to the Tropical Beach Resort. The resort is located at the very end of the beach. We were dropped off at the front of the road and then walked along the beach for 10 minutes. We actually booked a standard hut. Due to a mistake in the booking system, we got a free upgrade to a deluxe hut with a sea view on site. Jackpot!
The resort staff was super friendly and more than accommodating. The breakfast was top notch and the menu had the appropriate dish for every time of day. However, it can happen that you order a dish and two minutes later you get the info: "Sorry, we don't have it!" Well, you're on an island after all, so some things can run out or there may be a lack of supplies. All good. Unfortunately, ants raided my Snoopy chocolate advent calendar on the first night. They're everywhere. During the day, we refreshed ourselves with coconut water and fruit juices. And otherwise, we just let our souls dangle.
The peace did us good after Bangkok. Especially with regards to our onward journey to Cambodia, three relaxing days were definitely the right decision.
In this sense: Beach Time!
Have Fun and Be Proud!
