216.-221- Day 19.04. - 24.04. Easter / Brisbane

Lofalitsidwa: 12.07.2019

Friday 19.04. Good Friday

In the early afternoon, we had an appointment with a prospective buyer to view the car. After the test drive, Barbara and I took the train to Brisbane and went for a walk. Coincidentally, Markus Huber was also studying in Brisbane at the time, so we made plans to have dinner together.

We then went to the Samford Showgrounds and slept there.

Saturday 20.04.

In the morning, we coincidentally ran into Sabrina from Augsburg, whom we met about a month ago in the Grampians. We also received a rejection from the prospective buyer, which really got me down. As a distraction, we both went back to Brisbane and went for a long walk. Among other things, we walked over the Story Bridge and the other side of the Brisbane River.

By chance, we received a message from another interested buyer and we went to the Hyperdome to view the car. After this meeting, we booked a flight to Christchurch and a campervan for New Zealand as a precaution. We also splurged at an outdoor shop.
Another interested buyer, Kevin from Germany, called and we had a second viewing.

Monday 22.04.
Woo hoo, Kevin agreed to buy the car, everything is going to be fine after all.
I sold María for 2500 AUD$ and I'm glad to be able to say goodbye to her and say 'It was great and it's great that it's over!'

Tuesday 23.04.

Shopping day in Brisbane Central, buying Ugg boots for Babse's mom and aunt and sending a large package weighing almost 10kg to Germany. Other than that, we enjoyed the day.

In the evening, we met up with Carina by chance and the two girls got to know each other.

After a cozy beer and funny conversations, our paths separated and we headed into our last night in Australia.

Wednesday 24.04. Last day in Australia

We spent the morning in the apartment and left for the airport around noon. When we arrived there, we relaxed for some time as the flight was scheduled to depart in the evening.
Waiting, waiting, waiting, ...

After check-in, we had the usual beer to calm our nerves.

Everything was going well, boarding complete, everyone in their seats. Suddenly, the captain made an announcement explaining that a crew member had hit their head and needed to be medically examined. The end result was de-boarding, with everyone having to leave the plane and the departure being rescheduled for the next day. Fortunately for us, we hadn't booked any accommodation in Christchurch yet.
Well, nothing more today

So, we got food vouchers at the airport, a bus transfer to Brisbane, a 4-star hotel with a balcony and suite, a minibar voucher, luxury, and a paid hotel night.

Couldn't be better!
