Because of a routine examination, we go back home to Lake Constance. Unfortunately, we receive catastrophic news and the planned short visit to Germany will now take several months. Kilian's cancer is back and he undergoes surgery almost immediately in Stuttgart.
Together we drive to the state capital to the only campsite at Cannstatter Vasen. Unfortunately, the festival is in full swing, the place is packed and the noise level is almost unbearable. Music from 3 marquees, rides, loud roars and ambulance sirens every 15 minutes are now our constant companion for the next 2 weeks. We still have 3 days before Kilian is operated on and are trying to distract ourselves with Ferris wheels and the like, which is only partially successful.
What a contrast to our lives last year!
He survived the operation well and a few days later we drove out of the madness, into the countryside and comfortably back to Lake Constance.
A few days later we received the results of the operation and thus missed the next low blow! More was found than expected and we will now, for better or worse, take the hard route with chemotherapy and radiation plus alternative mistletoe therapy.
We need a few days to digest all of this. Is our journey over here and now? How are we going to continue? Sleepless nights plague us and the shock is deep.
We decide to overcome this difficult path and we are sure that our journey will continue. After all, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and many other countries are waiting for us! And we will come... even if it will be a little later than expected.
Especially now!!
