We were almost there, you could already see the glacier. But before that, we drove past the Glacier Skywalk. This was originally on our list of sights we wanted to visit. However, it was not cheap and due to time constraints, we decided to skip it. And I think we don't have to regret it, as we drove past it, we could take a look and I have to say, it looked much bigger and more impressive in the pictures we had seen. Plus, the path was massively crowded. So, no loss. This way, we arrived at the glacier even faster. We would have liked to take a tour on the Columbia Icefield, but that tour cost 250 dollars and that was way too expensive for just a few hours on the ice. So, we settled for admiring the glacier from a distance. That alone was enough to make me incredibly excited. This was my first glacier and I had never seen anything like it before.
From the parking lot, we had to walk a bit, then climb a short distance up the mountain and we were rewarded with the incredible view of the Columbia Icefield. The wind here was icy again, we were at an altitude of over 2000 meters, but the sight of the glacier compensated for everything! Just wow. This was the highlight of the day for me, maybe even the whole vacation. Some might find my enthusiasm exaggerated, but since I had never seen anything like this before, I couldn't help but be amazed.
We still had a bit to do, but for me, I was happy for today :)
