Valparaiso

Valparaiso and Santiago de Chile were our last two destinations. Today we arrived in Arica, in the far north of Chile.

On the way to Santiago, we drove through Chilean wine regions. I think more wine is produced here than in all of Germany.

Since we could only see the Christ the Redeemer statue from a distance in Rio, we took a cogwheel train up to the smaller Chilean statue here. The view of Santiago was breathtaking. We learned a lot about South American dictators and freedom fighters. On the weekend, we should avoid some places as the windows of the banks were boarded up due to expected demonstrations.

Everything went well.
