Museo Fonck Vina del Mar

Franz Fonck, a German doctor, born in 1830, comes to Chile in 1854, attracted by his interest in natural sciences. At that time, many German scientists come to Chile and later create the Scientific Society of Santiago. The museum has objects from different peoples of Chile, and in particular, objects from the Rapanui of Easter Island. One of the few Moai statues outside Easter Island is located here.

Franz Fonck, ein deutscher Arzt, kommt 1854 nach Santiago und später nach Vina del Mar. Er arbeitet hier als Arzt. Sein Hauptinteresse gilt allerdings den Naturwissenschaften. Er studiert die Naturvölker Chiles und insbesondere die Rapanui der Osterinsel, die mit zahlreichen Objekten im Museum vertreten sind. Vor dem Eingang steht eine Moai-Statue, einige der wenigen Statuen ausserhalb der Osterinseln.
