I know you are eagerly waiting for our new stories, but the first day is always exhausting. But now let's get started.
Now the day of departure has arrived and I believe we have taken care of everything. Well, I wanted to cut a few perennials in the garden, but they will most likely still be there and wilted in 7 weeks. The house is tidy, the tax return is almost finished, the neighbors are informed, and the suitcases are packed.
No traffic jam prevents our arrival to Leon, only the detour via Garbsen, because the Herrenhausen exit is closed, increases the travel time to 31 minutes. But no problem. It's running smoothly.
No queue at check-in and at the security check. Sweetheart had to unpack his carry-on bag at the security check - nothing new for us. I had Dronie in my carry-on luggage, and the customs officer wanted to take a look at it. And then the long wait for my backpack began. And suddenly there was a queue of people waiting for their luggage. After 5 security personnel and the customs officer had looked at the X-ray image of my backpack and saw 2 unidentifiable devices, we were allowed to continue guessing together (with the customs officer, a security woman, Sweetheart and me). The power bank was immediately clear, but what was the other device. I hadn't packed anything - until Sweetheart came up with the idea 🤦♀️ the navigation system, he had put it in my backpack. Now unpack everything again, another X-ray and then we were finally allowed to go. Let's have a cold barley juice first.
I have déjà vu. Just like in 2018, during our 3-month trip, we missed our departure slot this time too. Remember? The slot is the departure window.
In addition to the 15 minutes we lost due to overloaded suitcases, there are now another 40 minutes due to the lost slot. And in Munich time is already tight. We reach Munich at 14:50 with a delay of 45 minutes, an outdoor parking lot. And somehow things aren't going smoothly, the captain also had to realize that because due to a lack of staff, neither a docking stair nor a bus driver could be found. And the clock is ticking. Boarding started at 14:45. The first stairs in a sprint and already the heart is pumping and the lungs are gasping. After a quick walk to the tram, the pores also open. Oh, how wonderful, this is how fitness training is fun. Slightly perspired and breathing a little heavier, we reach the gate - and boarding is delayed by 45 minutes due to technical problems. Well great, and we rushed for that.
Lufthansa, the German railway of the skies.
The 10-hour flight to Vancouver went,
actually quite well, if it weren't for 6 hours of children's crying. It was patiently endured (thanks to earplugs), because you know how it is. However, several questions arise: why does everyone have to suffer for the self-realization of the parents, the children and the other 350 passengers. And why isn't there First, Business, Economy, and Family Class.
Arriving in Vancouver, then the usual procedure - passport control, picking up luggage and rental car,
Looking for Walmart, for water and a SIM card. Not being able to decide on a tariff, finally deciding, but now the employee has finished work and we still don't have a sim card.
Anyway, now off to our accommodation and sleep. The night will be short.
Good night
