I spent the last few days in Ipoh. I came to Ipoh quite spontaneously because it was on my route and sounded very good.
I slept here in a four-bed dorm - in a fantastic hostel. Very clean, cheap, friendly staff, everything quite new, coffee, water and breakfast for free. Oh yes: and there was a balcony!
The first evening we went to a supposed 'English pub', but it was anything but that on the inside. It was more of a Chinese karaoke bar. To bear this, we had to (with buckets of beer) make the Chinese singing lines as tolerable as possible.
Yesterday we had a little tour of the streets and the street art of Ipoh. It was almost a bit difficult to enjoy this, as the midday sun was blasting an unbearable heat and the aftereffects from the previous day finished the rest.
Somehow I assumed beforehand that most backpackers here are around 20 years old. But in fact, almost all of them are older (at least the ones I talked to) - or about the same age as me. I have also already met some who were 60 years old.
Today I am moving on. Towards the coast. Water!
