Continue towards Bangkok

Lofalitsidwa: 15.10.2017

Saturday 14.10 (84km)

Based on a recommendation, we are going to Thap Sakae where there should be a bicycle hostel.
According to the information, you can either sleep for 500 baht or camp for 150 baht.
When we arrive there, we ride around a bit and buy a beer that we drink at the 'kiosk'.
Suddenly, more and more people arrive and the locals set up food on the side of the road.
They invite us and say that everything is free.
We sit down and eventually we are surrounded by local children who ask us endless questions in English.
They and the adults bring us food little by little.
Due to the king's death a year ago, this 'mourning festival' seems to be taking place.
When we later return to the hostel, the owner tells us that there is only one room left for 800 baht.
That is definitely too much for us.
So we go back to our 'new friends' and ask them where we can sleep.
A nice man even accompanies us there on his scooter and gives us a sandwich.

Sunday 15.10. (101 km)

In the morning when we want to leave, the hotel owner gives us 2 coconuts to drink.
Then we continue towards Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park.
I read that you can camp on the beach here.
On the way, we stop at a temple-like building where we get water bekommen.ll
Unfortunately, the park costs 200 baht per person for admission (locals pay 40!) so the overnight stay is not free after all.

Later, a ranger comes and demands another 30 baht per person for camping...

Oh well!
