Dancing Lights

E phatlaladitšwe: 21.11.2024

I’ve caught a strong cold, which my immune system struggled with due to the varying climates with single-digit temperatures in Cangzhou and the tropical heat with cold air conditioning on the metro and indoors in Singapore. Today we returned from Singapore, and I will now report on the days spent there, even though I canceled a couple of activities yesterday due to feeling unwell.
At Marina Bay in Singapore, an evening spectacle occurs every day against the backdrop of the skyline. Water fountains shoot up in a variety of colors, synchronized to powerful music. The small Merlion figure lights up, and colorful video projections dance on the misty water walls. This show is complemented by laser beams from the roof of the hotel behind us, Marina Bay Sands, whose colors also change accordingly, though we can’t see it while watching the light show since it is behind us. I had previously watched the show on YouTube, but it didn’t pique my interest. Now, live and up close, it’s a wonderful experience and feels much more vibrant than on video. While this is my first time seeing this show, I have enjoyed the Garden Rhapsody Show at Gardens by the Bay with the illuminated Supertrees several times. Nonetheless, we are now strolling to the other side of Marina Bay Sands because my mother-in-law hasn’t experienced the light and music show yet. The shopping mall we need to pass through has activated its indoor waterfall, and a boat full of tourists paddles close by while I notice the smiling faces of the onlookers wishing for a spectacular stunt with the boat for their social media accounts. Yet, the boat passengers remain cheerful despite the spray and wave merrily to the numerous cameras. We continue walking, and I discover a new trend in Singapore. Young people have found the mirrored corridor leading to Gardens by the Bay for their dance rehearsals, so they can check their performances in the many mirrors. Just on time, the tremendous classical music resonates beneath the Supertrees and the colored lights begin to dance up and down the trees. Even though I've experienced it several times, it’s still absolutely delightful.
