Our next stop was Los Angeles for 5 days. The weather forecast made us very happy as it was expected to be sunny. We booked a room in an apartment in South Los Angeles through Airbnb. There were also other tourists staying there and the tenant was really nice and gave us good tips for various activities.
At first, we considered renting a car but then decided to get around the city with Uber. It was a good decision because everything was easily accessible from our accommodation, it was stress-free as we didn't have to search for parking, we were flexible about where we wanted to be picked up, and it was also affordable. The weather during the day was pretty good and the sun was often shining, but it was quite cold in the evening and at night.
On our arrival day, we had tickets for the basketball game - Los Angeles Lakers vs. Phoenix Suns - at the Staples Center. It was really cool, just like you see on TV with hot dogs, nachos with cheese sauce, and cola. Fortunately, the Lakers also won, so the atmosphere was really good.
The next day, we went to Venice Beach. It looked exactly like you see it in movies and TV shows. There are many different things to do there, such as playing basketball, surfing, renting bikes and longboards, working out at Muscle Beach, or watching the skaters. We walked all the way to Santa Monica and the famous Santa Monica Pier. It's about a 4-kilometer walk along the sea. There's a small amusement park with a ferris wheel and roller coaster, as well as many dining options. We went to Bubba Gump and followed in Forest Gump's footsteps 😊😊.
On the next day, we went to Hollywood Boulevard - where every star gets their own star - and the Griffith Observatory to have a great view of the city, the sunset, and the Hollywood Sign. We highly recommend it because the view is really amazing.
To see the Hollywood Sign up close, we hiked up there. It's a good hiking trail as it consists of paved roads. The hike takes about 45 minutes. When you reach the top, you'll be behind the Hollywood Sign. It also offers an impressive view of the city.
There were still many things to do as Los Angeles is quite vast, but we made the most of our short time there and really enjoyed it.
We would definitely come back.
Off to Mexico now 🎉🤗!!!
