Day 2 - Denmark - From Husum to Ribe to Lemvik

E phatlaladitšwe: 15.07.2019

Day 2 - Husum > Lemvik
Day 2 - Husum > Lemvik

Let's go!

We have completed the difficult first day. And we have also survived the first night in cold Husum. We have been spoiled by our previous holidays in Southern Europe. When it comes to camping in a camper van in Northern Europe, good insulation and multiple layers are recommended. Tommy has recently received a new Westfalia pop-top roof, which came with an insulation cover that can be wrapped around the roof to keep the wind out.

With great enthusiasm, we start the second day and we would like to briefly visit Ribe, the oldest town in Denmark, on the 275km journey from Husum to Lemvik.

To avoid highways on our way to the campsite in Lemvik, we have chosen the town of Hvide Sande as an additional 'stopover'. Not to stay there, but rather to have beautiful views and show Tommy more than just boring highways. And we were rewarded! A mix of wide fields and coastal roads with views of waving beach grass and the North Sea. If you are traveling to northern Denmark, even if it's just to catch a ferry to Norway, you should take the time to visit Hvide Sande.

Our old Tommy must feel like a proud older brother there. The campervans have secured the best spots at the campsite in Lemvik.

In its element. If Tommy was not designed for a pitch like this, then I don't know. The beach grass stalks in the same color as the camper van's paintwork and a blue sky as far as the eye can see. Even though appearances can be deceiving and we desperately needed the external cover for the pop-top roof at night, the weather during the day made up for it and we feel like we are on a real summer vacation.
