The great bike tour day 33: lonely paths to and from Amelia

E phatlaladitšwe: 24.05.2022

Not much happened today, I followed the Dutch route to Orte - hours of cycling through the nice hills, more or less steep, partly on field paths, partly on small roads - every now and then a farmer passes me, otherwise there is no one there. There is a strong south wind blowing all day, the sky is cloudy and it is hot.

The Strada dei Cappuccini has nothing to do with coffee, it passes by a monastery for Capuchin monks. And of course, it is up on one of those hills again. But they have a tap outside the wall, which I was very grateful for.

Amelia hangs threateningly high above an impressive gorge, hopefully I don't have to climb up there, I think to myself. But the road leads up to the hill from the back, the slope is moderate and of course I have to go up there. The historic old town is gloomy and very run-down, (still?) not renovated for tourists, many houses have a "for sale" sign hanging.

I just pass by Orte, I will gain enough altitude today anyway.

ecOstello Magliano Sabina, 38€, large double room with modern bathroom and fast Wi-Fi. However, I did not understand why I should call 30 minutes before arriving at the already occupied reception. The woman there speaks something that I can barely identify as Italian, but practically do not understand. At least she understands me.

Morgen schon Rom?
