After a restful night, the new day began with plenty of energy. Moritz and Julia treated themselves to a short workout session before earning some well-deserved time in the hot tub. Since we didn't have to check out until 12 o'clock, we had plenty of time to fully enjoy the morning. Soon, Nico and Franci joined us, and we had breakfast together in the bubbling water of the hot tub.
Around half-past twelve, we relaxedly set off for our stop at Lake Havasu. We only planned to stay one night here, as the journey to the Grand Canyon would otherwise have been too long with a six-hour drive.
On the way to Lake Havasu, we noticed that the roads were dotted with election posters for Trump. After leaving California behind and entering Arizona, we felt a different vibe in the air. Unfortunately, there was no breeze outside at all, as we had already hit the 45-degree mark.
By 5 PM, we arrived at our motel. We knew this was just a stop for one night, but the luxurious comfort of our previous accommodation made us grimace. However, we didn't want to let that spoil our mood, so we quickly finished off some leftovers and headed to the lake, which had been described to us as beautiful in stories.
When we arrived at Lake Havasu, we were impressed by the picturesque scenery. However, the noise was overwhelming – it sounded like we were at an airport. The sounds from jet skiers and motorboats pierced through the noise like a thunderous orchestra.
We didn’t find any relaxation here, so we decided to go out for dinner. Across from our motel, we discovered a charming Italian restaurant. There we could enjoy a hearty meal at a fair price and even pack food for the next day.
