Hi guys,
As you can see from the title, we had visitors from home. Michi & Franzi came to visit me, and Klara had a visit from Lisa.
But let's start from the beginning. I was so excited when the two finally arrived, because we had already planned some things in advance that we wanted to experience together. First, we rented a car (a Toyota Rav4) and started the Garden Route. The first stop was Mossel Bay. We couldn't do much in the city itself, but the drive there was quite exciting. We drove past ostrich farms, fields, and beaches, all on dirt roads (highways). But don't worry, South Africa also has paved roads. After Mossel Bay, we continued to Plettenberg. We stayed in a hostel with a beautiful view. In Plettenberg, we had wine tasting and Robberg on the agenda. On the way to Jeffreys Bay, we stopped in Wilderness to walk to the Men in the Cave on old railroad tracks. It was a beautiful quiet bay. The canoe trip to a waterfall afterwards was very exhausting, and we were glad to check into the hostel in Jeffreys Bay in the evening. To bring some action into our daily routine again, we decided to try sandboarding for a day at nearby dunes. Did it work, Michi? We all managed to stand on the board more or less until the end. And finally, the highlight: the Addo Elephant Park. We got up early to see elephants, buffalo, zebras, kudus (a type of springbok), and warthogs. Back in Cape Town, we hiked up Table Mountain and enjoyed the last days at Cliffton Beach.
I also had a visit from Lisa. We booked a 5-day tour to Jeffreys Bay and back. On the first day, we drove from Cape Town to Wilderness. There, we were able to do a 3-hour canoe ride on a river. It was a lot of fun with our group. Then we stayed on Moisel Beach. Amazing location right by the sea. The next day, we went from Wilderness to Jeffreys Bay via Tsitsikamma. We walked for 2 hours in Tsitsikamma National Park to a suspension bridge, 7 meters high. We ended the evening with a game of beer pong.
On the third day, we started very early at 3:00 am towards Addo Elephant Park. We got to join the sunrise tour, which was really beautiful. We discovered elephants, lions, zebras, warthogs, and much more.
Then we went to Oudtshoorn to visit an ostrich farm and try ostrich meat. It tasted really delicious 😊 In the afternoon, we went to the world-famous Cango Caves. Of course, we had to do the adventure tour, which means squeezing through narrow passages, crawling on our knees, and sliding down on our backs. It's not for people with claustrophobia.
On the last morning, we drove back to Cape Town. Lisa and I rented a car for a day to go to Cape of Good Hope. We also hiked up Table Mountain on one of the days.
Once again, thank you to the three of you for visiting us here. It was really nice to have you here with us.
Your Egger Girls
Hi guys,
After 7 months, we were visited by friends from home. Luci had Michi and Franzi, and I had Lisa.
Michi, Franzi, and I rented a car (a Toyota Rav4) for 10 days for the Garden Route. First, we drove to Mossel Bay. The city itself wasn't very nice, but the journey there was amazing. We passed some ostrich farms, fields, and many beaches. The next city was Plettenberg. We had a wonderful view from our hostel directly to the ocean. In Plettenberg, we did a wine tasting and went to Robberg. On the way to Jeffreys Bay, we stopped at Wilderness to hike the trail to 'The Men in the Cave'. It's a 45-minute walk on old railroad tracks. Very nice. After a wonderful and tiring canoe drive, we were happy to check in at the hostel. To bring more action into our trip, we went sandboarding the next day. It was a lot of fun, right Michi? But in the end, we all managed to get down the hill. Our highlight on the route was the safari ride through the Addo Elephant Park. We saw buffalos, warthogs, kudus, elephants, and many more animals. The last days, we relaxed in Cape Town, hiking up Table Mountain and enjoying the Clifton Beach.
Lisa and I decided to book a 5-day tour to Jeffreys Bay and back. On the first day, we drove to Wilderness. There, we did a 3-hour canoe ride. It was amazing and fun with our group. In the evening, we arrived at Moisel Beach. The hostel had the best location, right by the ocean. The next day, we drove to Jeffreys Bay. On the way, we passed Tsitsikamma National Park and walked for 2 hours to a bridge. In the evening, we played beer pong and danced funny dances.
The next morning started very early. At 3:00 am, we drove towards Addo Elephant Park for the sunrise safari. It was wonderful. We saw lions, elephants, zebras, warthogs, kudus, and many more. Our next destination was Oudtshoorn. It is famous for its ostriches and the Cango Caves, which we visited. The ostrich meat tasted very good. On the last day, we drove back to Cape Town.
Lisa and I rented a car for one day and drove to Cape of Good Hope. We also hiked up Table Mountain and went shopping in all the cute little shops.
Now we want to say thank you to the three of you. It was so nice to have you here and be a part of our journey.
Regards
Klara & Luci
