Today, not everything went as planned. I had booked a special city tour for 11 a.m. However, our ship could not arrive until later than planned and I did not disembark until after 11 a.m. But I was in contact with the driver via WhatsApp and was able to inform him while he was able to guide me to his location.
There were five other passengers on the tour besides me. Once we were seated in the spacious Mercedes minibus, the driver told us the planned destinations. To my disappointment, he had not listed two activities that I had booked: "Ride a camel through the city" and "Experience a carefully curated photo session." I asked and the driver was surprised. There were no camels in Casablanca. He called his boss and handed me the phone. I negotiated a thirty percent cash refund with him.
Once that was sorted out, I was able to enjoy the trip. Our first destination was the Hassan II Mosque, which is said to be the fifth largest in the world.
Next we had a traditional meal in a restaurant, which I really enjoyed.
We visited various parts of the city, a Christian church and two souks. We were back on the ship at around 4 p.m. Despite the canceled camel ride, it was a beautiful day.
In the evening, ventriloquist Jerry Goodspeed made us laugh.
