Today alarm clock set to 5 am💤😴
Last night we packed everything, which is not much.... clear advantage of a motorhome. So just unplug and go.
At the border to Slovenia it is still empty and the sun is slowly rising.
After considering for a long time how to drive back, we decided not to go through the Karawanken tunnel but to make a detour to Bled.
We continue to Kranjska Gora to Wurzenpass.
On the mountain pass road, we have an old motorhome in front of us. It smokes and we're afraid it will break down on a 17% slope. He finally makes it....🤦♀️
In Austria, we drive along the Drau river, through Villach and Spital.
Childhood memories are awakened.
Through the Lisertal, through Trebesing to Gmünd.
There we decide to continue driving on the highway, as Julia has reserved a table in Nuremberg at 6 p.m.
We drive from traffic jam to traffic jam.... somehow everyone wants to go home today. Slovenian cookies for the nerves
In Nuremberg, we arrive just in time, but still have to find a suitable place to stay. We find one in a small parking lot and Julia has already found us 😊
After a Franconian meal, we visit Julia's beautiful apartment overlooking the marketplace.
After a glass of wine on the bridge...
...we take a walk through Nuremberg and stop here and there for a glass.
A really nice end to the vacation.
After the last night in the motorhome, we head home in the morning.
Our conclusion on the motorhome experiment.
It's a lot of work to load and unload everything into the motorhome. / For that, you don't have to pack and unpack suitcases.
You are very flexible in terms of weather and can drive where the sun is shining.
You can take care of your own food. (And of course, you always have ice-cold drinks with you)
Overnight stays are possible at rest areas, parking lots, and wild spots. 2 days without a power connection are possible.
For emergencies, there is a chemical toilet on board. However, we never used the shower because there were always showers at the beach and campsites. (Which, by the way, were always spotlessly clean.)
A small gas grill would have been practical, as charcoal grills were not allowed.
We also slept well, but the bed could have been a tad longer.
In summary, we can say that we really enjoyed it and can imagine doing it again.🙋♀️🙋♂️
