I came to Charlotte because Chicago would be too expensive and I didn't want to leave the States yet. Here, in Charlotte, I could stay with a friend again - Isabella from Brazil, whom I also met at the language school in Santa Monica.
The city is extremely cute and very green. Trees, meadows, and parks everywhere. The Freedom Park with a small lake and an open-air theater is worth seeing. The city lives for its business - business people everywhere! In Uptown (it's not called Downtown because it sounds too negative) there are countless banks and office buildings. Charlotte is the second largest financial city in the USA, right behind New York. Although Charlotte is among the top 20 largest cities in the USA, it feels quite small. In Uptown, everything is within walking distance and easily accessible. Outside of Uptown, there are breathtaking houses in virtually every neighborhood, from small (by US standards) to large villas with a pool and all other accessories.
A visit to the NASCAR Hall of Fame was a must. Even though this sport means nothing to me, I was fascinated by the enthusiastic fans. Additionally, we could show off our skills in a simulator that felt 'real'.
The last remaining days, I spent relaxing, taking lovely walks through Uptown, and enjoying delicious food. Oh, and I also got my hair cut here - very short this time.
So, after almost four months, I am leaving the USA to visit Toronto. A relative of mine is already waiting for me there, whom I haven't seen in 17 years.
