The flight was mainly spent sleeping or eating & after checking in at the hotel, we immediately went on a tour to explore the sights of the capital with about 22 million inhabitants.
The first impressions absolutely overwhelm me!
I usually approach travels without expectations, so that I can accept the gained experiences without judgment. However, I would have liked to be better prepared for the events here...
Here, every five to six meters, you have a different smell in your nose. It ranges from feces, decomposition & putrefaction to freshly cooked food & fruits. What often takes your breath away are the exhaust fumes from the countless vehicles in this city. Although we were spared from smog, fine dust was still an unpleasant companion.
We visited different temples, mosques & assembly places of the city to gain an impression of the religions. However, what struck me was the poverty of the population! Extremely many homeless people, or whole families sleeping in self-built tents at the roadside. Stray & emaciated dogs. Even dead animals that were devoured by eagles can be found...
