The monkeys of Gibraltar!

E phatlaladitšwe: 06.03.2023

Kind of funny when you tell the taxi driver "a la frontera" as the destination.

It's about the border between Spain and Gibraltar, which is crossed every day by 15,000 people in the same direction. However, not to look for monkeys like us, but to work.

Searching for the monkeys wasn't really difficult. They were already waiting for us shortly after getting off the cable car on the Rock of Gibraltar. They just roam around. And they are probably deliberately fed so that they don't eat the tourists' hair off their heads.

Where and when the monkeys came from, it is not known exactly. But they definitely came from nearby Morocco. However, not by swimming, but by ship. However, they did not steer the ship themselves (it would be too much to trust them), but humans who were commissioned to bring some monkeys to Gibraltar.

In Gibraltar, it didn't take long for us to feel the Heligoland feeling. Upper town, lower town, lighthouse, and eventually we wondered when we had to catch the last ship. Just everything much, much bigger, more compact, and somewhat more British. Nevertheless, you drive on the right and speak more or less Spanish.

Conclusion: Monkeys found, tour mission fulfilled! 😀 And gladly go to Gibraltar a second time.
