Only one week is left until I have to leave NZ. Although I'm going to Australia next, I'm not looking forward to leave NZ since I'm enjoying my time here a lot ;)
'Life is all about facing new challenges'... During my last week together with Marama our campervan got hit by a tow truck that overtook us on the wrong lane. Luckily nobody was injured but our campervan has to be scrapped. Police and three cars witnessed our innocence. Nevertheless we had some busy days getting our stuff out of the car, booking hostels and public transport and a lot of paperwork for me. The (very unfriendly and unregenerate) tow driver tried to prolong the process until we will have left the country... To conclude, his insurance accepted to pay for our car. Also I have to thank the very friendly police officer and the wonderful retired couple that hosted us for a few days in Oamaru!
Anyways, giving up was not an option and I continued travelling as a backpacker, now on my own. I have to say that I enjoyed travelling alone, the comfort of a hostel, and the possibility to meet more people ;) Among others, I visited Kaikoura, Twizel, and Lake Tekapo which is famous for stargazing. I did a combination of stargazing through a telescope and from a hot pool at night. That was amazing!
Otherwise, I did many hikes and was touched once again by the natural beauty of the country.
